One of the goals for the Century Class S/T was to make available the highest level of active and passive safety features that today's technology could provide.

Century's Solid Foundation

The Century Class S/T is built on what is known as the "Century Platform."

This solid foundation includes:

Standard 34" width.
High strength frame rails.
Over slung cross member to reduce roll.
Five-piece robotically welded cross member for added strength.
An axle and suspension system to meet most needs.

Cab Structural Testing and Design

The Century Class S/T SleeperCab meets or exceeds stringent European and Swedish crash test standards. Extensive cab structural testing was conducted to ensure cab strength, stability, and durability. Cabs have been tested the equivalent of over one million miles on shaker tests and over test tracks. The result? Freightliner customers have one of the safest trucks on the road today.

Some of the testing included:

•  Back-to-front crush test
•  Pendulum blow (a 4-ton steel plate impacts the front of the vehicle)
•  Barrier impact
• Top-to-bottom crush test
